Gift of Sight

Gift of Sight is the Sightsavers International gift list which gives people the opportunity to buy friends and loved ones a fantastic present which could have a huge impact on someone's life in the developing world. 9web were commissioned to rebrand the Gift of Sight offering and redesign the website look and feel and user interface.

The first challenge in this project was to develop the Gift of Sight brand and to create an attractive and effective logo that communicates to the target audience. Our brand development team went to great lengths to understand exactly who the target audeince is and, importantly, what Sightsavers are trying to communicate via the Gift of Sight channel.

Gift of Sight logoAn iterative logo design process began with the development and presentation of a comprehensive ideas board of logo sketches. Discussion with the project team helped drive this process with some ideas and directions ruled out and others developed and worked up into further iterations.

The final logo is friendly, inviting and exciting and clearly communicates the gift aspect of the offering and the "spark" that is given back to the recipient of the treatment.

Once the branding work was complete, we moved forward with the website design, starting with a thorough information design process to establish exactly how the gift offering would be presented, what supporting information needed to be displayed, how we would back up the gifts with case studies and user interface planning for the shopping basket and check out process.

The creative design of the website was developed during an iterative design cycle driven by the new branding and feedback from the project team. The use of imagery was also hugely important here for communicating the key message and the need for this virtual gifts / donations process to support the work of Sightsavers International helping some of the most disadvantaged people in the world.

The final design develops the branding work and communicates the key message to all target audiences. Layouts for all required templates were then developed before taking the site into production to develop standards compliant, search engine friendly, fully accessible templates for implementation on to the Rhythmyx content management system.

Our fresh new design for our Gift of Sight website looks fantastic, we are really happy with the overall look and feel that 9web created, which we can also apply to all our offline communications, creating a strong identity for the Sightsavers Gift of Sight range.

After the project…

Following delivery of the design and templates for implementation into the CMS, we continued to support the Gift of Sight campaign and worked with the marketing team to develop a series of banner adverts for spots (on e.g. Vogue and Radio Times websites) to help drive traffic to the new site.
