Scholarships for Kids

Scholarships for Kids is a new charity, aiming to help children in developing countries escape the cycle of poverty through sponsoring their continued education. Scholarships for Kids was still in an embryonic stage when founder Paul Norman approached 9web to develop a brand identity and website for the charity.

Scholarships for Kids logoA new charity launching in an already crowded sector needs a brand identity that directly and succinctly communicates its purpose and mission. We concentrated on creating a logo that is simple and appealing.

Once the branding was complete we began planning the website. A considered analysis of the site's target audience, and their goals when visiting the site formed the basis of the information architecture process. We were able to turn this into a site structure which introduces the sponsorship concept in a clear and direct fashion, whilst also providing access to all the information required to demonstrate the credibility of the organisation.

With a sound site structure to work upon the design of the site was refined through iterative feedback cycles. The site needed visual impact in order to communicate the gravity of the situation and the massive difference pledging a sponsorship could make. Careful sourcing of photography was key in order to engage the empathy of the viewer, without appearing contrived or sensationalising the issue. The finished design is simple and unobtrusive, focusing attention on the key issues and presenting a clear path for those wishing to make a donation.

The charity has now launched, and 9web remain involved in further developing the site.

9web's design expertise, attention to detail and knowledge of the charitable sector have been pivotal in developing a website that communicates the problem in an appropriate tone and reaches out to our target audience.
