Information design

How on earth do we organise all this content?

It seems like a daunting task, right? Not if we take the time to plan things out properly.

We have developed an inclusive, workshop based information design methodology that can be summarised as follows:

  • Defining exactly what the goals of the website are
  • Analysing the audience groups and developing personas to represent them
  • Content analysis and logical grouping
  • Planning out the user-journey

This process is illustrated in part by the graphic above showing a paper based exercise of card sorting, the development of a sitemap and the construction of in depth wireframes for each section of the website.

The end result of the process is a carefully constructed information framework for the website that allows users to quickly and easily find the information they are looking for, yet is flexible enough to evolve and expand over time.
